Final Cut Camera 2.4 gets a redesign, variable aperture on iPhone 18 Pro and pro tools with iOS 27
A free update from September 29 adds RGB Parade, Clean SDI Out and Genlock Offset, plus Cinematic mode effects on ProRes and Apple Log footage.

Final Cut Camera, Apple's professional filmmaking app for iPhone, has received a major update with version 2.4. It arrives with a new design, support for variable aperture on iPhone 18 Pro and more pro options for creators with iOS 27. The new version is available as a free software update from September 29.
Redesigned from the ground up
The rebuilt app gives creators easier access to popular settings such as shutter angle, ISO and white balance. Customizable overlays include false color and clipping indicators for proper exposure, while an improved focus peaking comes with sensitivity controls. A new indicator light shows when recording is in progress, and a two-finger tap clears the viewfinder so users can focus on the shot.
Variable aperture on iPhone 18 Pro
iPhone 18 Pro users can use the Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, which Apple calls the most advanced camera it has ever built and the first time aperture control comes to iPhone. Creators can set aperture precisely, or choose between shutter priority and aperture priority modes. The update also unlocks Cinematic mode effects for regular video, including footage shot in ProRes and Apple Log, so creators can adjust focus point and depth of field while editing in Final Cut Pro.
Pro tools with iOS 27
With iOS 27, Final Cut Camera adds support for professional video scopes, Clean SDI Out and Genlock Offset. Creators can check video precisely using RGB Parade, which shows the red, green and blue channels to help judge color balance and exposure, plus a histogram. Clean SDI Out sends a clean video signal through an HDMI-to-SDI converter for broadcast-quality streaming, and Genlock Offset compensates for latency differences between iPhone and other cameras sharing a genlock.
